Fishers Baja claimed its first-ever State Championship over Center Grove HS by a score of 9-6 on a cool, windy, and overcast afternoon at Westfield High School. The game was played and live-streamed as part of “Ultimate Day IN Indiana” designed to showcase the sport of Ultimate.
Stifling defensive play was the order of the day for Fishers Baja, as it had been throughout the tournament. Over a total of 8 games, Baja outscored their opponents 90-15, with a points against average of less than 2 per game! Baja’s tough defense helped them score 5 unanswered points to start the game, and they carried that lead into halftime, ahead 7-2.

Center Grove was able to mount a small charge in the first part of the second half and outscored Baja 3-1 including an 18-minute long point to start the half. But the final result was never really in doubt. Baja’s large lead allowed them to be aggressive and throw the disc deep, then rely on their defense in the event of a turnover.

Baja scored their ninth point just moments before the hard cap to make the score 9-5. Center Grove then scored the final point of the game after time had expired, making the official score 9-6.
WAY TO GO BAJA!!!
